For Immediate Release:
ASIA RISK & RESILIENCE CONFERENCE 2016
“Corporate Governance, Risk & Resilience”
SINGAPORE (July 15, 2016) —
The vision of the annual Asia Business Continuity Conference (ABCC) started in year 2000. There were ideas to share and conferences acted as good platforms for Business Continuity practitioners to gather to widen their knowledge, share their experience and network in the BCM industry. This spurred Business Continuity Planning Asia Pte Ltd to organise the first ABCC and hence started the 13-year running conference which has hosted delegates coming from the region and from all industries. To upkeep with the continuous changes in the industry and the expanded scope of the risk and business continuity practitioners, this year, the conference format and focus is improved with the inclusion of Risk & Insurance Management Association of Singapore (RIMAS) as a co-organiser. In 2016, the Asia Business Continuity Conference (ABCC) has been rebranded to the Asia Risk & Resilience Conference (ARRC) in order to encompass and align to the broadened objectives of the Conference Organisers: to increase awareness and promote the growth of Business Continuity Management (BCM) & Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) in the region.
With the expanded coverage, the ARRC Organising Committee has upscale the conference, with the theme “Corporate Governance, Risk & Resilience” to include 2 Pre-Conference BCM & ERM workshops to be held on 24th August 2016 and followed by a 2-day Conference on 25th & 26th August 2016. The topics will cover topics from corporate governance, leadership, policy to the process planning, resource and risk identification and mitigation measures. The ARRC aims to covers the interests and topics from the decision makers to the process owners and upkeep with the industry trends and practices. Along with the conference, this year, the Awards ceremony for the annual BCI Asia Awards as well as the inaugural RIMAS Enterprise Risk Management Awards will be taking place on the evening of 25th August 2016.
So what is new in this conference?
Keeping with the previous years’ trends where positive feedbacks were received, there will be a Group Activity that allows delegates to interact and conceptualised to provide delegates with the biggest takeaway from the conference and to also experience the road from crisis to recovery in real time. Also, don’t miss out on the other interesting topics such as Terrorism, Cyber-Security and human capital risk.
The ARRC 2016 will also be graced by Guest-of-Honour, Mr Amrin Amin, Parliament Secretary for Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs and Member of Parliament representing Sembawang Group Representation Constituency (Woodlands). The keynote speakers include Mr Andrew McElroy, United Nations Office of Disaster Risk Reduction and Ms Julie Pemberton, President of Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS).
“Building a comprehensive corporate governance structure for the organization is every Risk & BCM manager’s responsibility. Participants of ARRC 2016 can learn from industry experts invited to speak at the conference while being reassured of their own program. I believe this will be beneficial to all participants of ARRC 2016.” As mentioned by Mr. Henry Ee, Honorary Secretary, RIMAS & Managing Director, BCP Asia.
“‘Everyone’s a Risk Manager’ is our vision,” said Mr. Sean Chan, President of RIMAS. “Everyone plays a part in managing various risks at personal, organisational, national and international levels. ARRC 2016 is one of the platforms to equip the participants with the knowledge and tools to effectively manage risks and opportunities in today’s context.”
