Introduction
The SARS outbreak in 2003 was a trying time for businesses that were not prepared, but it has taught us a valuable lesson. Since then, we, as a community, have learnt to be better prepared to brace other pandemic outbreaks such as the Influenza H1N1, H1N5, MERS and now most reminiscent of the 2003 outbreak—the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). One thing for certain is: We will not be able to predict when the next Pandemic will happen, until it happens.
Through this Pandemic Response Readiness Survey, we wanted to find out from our respondents on their organisations’ preparedness and response to the current COVID-19 situation. This survey targets organisations located in Asia Pacific which may or may not have a Business Continuity Program or Pandemic Response plan. Through this report, we hope that this can provide a benchmark on how your own organisation is faring as compared to other organisations within the region.
The data gathered in this report are through online surveys conducted between 17th February 2020 to 31st March 2020. A total of 142 respondents took part in this survey with participants representing countries from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and other locations in Asia.
